| St
Thomas's Church was built in the early part of the twentieth century
and is situated in the south ward of Boston along London Road. It
started in a classroom of the original school building in 1866 and
in 1885 progressed to a tin tabernacle. The need for a permanent brick
building was recognised and in 1909 building commenced, being completed
in 1912.
It
is quite a plain church from the outside although the churchyard
is well maintained. Inside the church the Rood Screen and Tympanum
are a beautiful sight and add to the inner peace of the church.
In
addition to regular worship the church holds a Parish Lunch at 12
noon on the first Friday of every month for those who usually eat
alone. There is a small charge of £2.00. Rainbows and Brownies
groups meet on Tuesday evenings in the hall. There is also a Mothers'
and Toddlers' group as well as a Wives' Group and Ladies' Fellowship.
